It was a cold night on February 19 at the Sixh.+ store in Harajuku when..

Fellow S-inc brand h.NAOTO’s new store in downtown Harajuku hosted this year’s Hangry & Angry Spring collection in a fun event on February 19. The night was cold but spirits were high as the two-story shop was transformed for the fashion show. On the first floor, some of the most extravagant creations of affiliated labels were displayed to the delight of the fans while the second floor was transformed into a catwalk, the dark paintings on the wall giving a somewhat dark cast to the room. Faithful H&A fans were visibly excited by the prospect of seeing firsthand the new creations, as the first models took to the runway with vibrant music to set the mood.

The theme for the show was “H&A Battle” and the concept was present both through the clothes and the model’s performances as they stood in character. Cute met hard in a fresh and jovial collection where colorful hair and makeup screamed as hard as the music, adding energy to the presentation.

Always in character, the models casually paraded the runway, skipping, running, and strolling from one side of the room to the other as they interacted with the fans in a playfully cute rock style. Black, white, and red served as a background. The international atmosphere provided by models from around the world added attitude and freedom to the show.

Halfway through the show, a pale pink and black outfit became a highlight. The model skipped through the runway with a black, multi-layered, frilly Lolita skirt, short enough to bounce with her every move. Long pink bunny ears dangled down her head from the hood on her sleeveless jacket adorned in the front with a massive ribbon. The result  resembled the world’s sweetest Easter bunny. Of course, ears and tails are indeed a must in every H&A collection and the models displayed them well as Hangry & Angry fought playfully for attention.

Another ensemble of note was a black and white short skirt almost completely hidden by a white-hooded poncho. Two waist-long purple ears adorned with black frills cascaded over the model’s chest where two black cat eyes peeked out with whiskers to match, the cat’s maw open as if to ward off intruders.

As the show reached its climax, it was time for two special guests to make their appearance. Sixh.’s own IBI & NARI made their appearance—to the fans’ sheer delight. It was hilarious to see the two fighting for a place on the runway as they pinched and kicked each other, playfully displaying their own dolls IBIry and NARIry.

Hangry & Angry know how to entertain a crowd and yet keep the new designs as a focal point. With all the running and skipping, it was not a small task for the photographers to get a clean shot—but the unique atmosphere and presentation begs forgiveness on that note, making for a fun night all around.
