FEST VAINQUEUR – Biography

Indies

In June 2005, FEST VAINQUEUR’s former incarnation, SINCREA, began performing in the Kansai region of Japan. Into 2009, the band released a single called Sakura maichiru kisetsu ni kimi ga yume mita koto, which was produced by kiyo of Janne Da Arc and reached #4 on the Oricon Indie chart. Despite their success, SINCREA broke up in April  2010 with a final oneman performance in Osaka.

The next evolution towards FEST VAINQUEUR occurred when vocalist Hal and guitarist Tomo formed a unit together and performed with DaizyStripper’s Kazami and A(Ace)’s Toshi as support members. However, on September 26 2010, bassist Hiro and drummer Kazi joined their former band-members onstage, acting as support for HAL & TOMO. By October 10, 2010, the temporary reunion became permanent, and FEST VAINQUEUR was born.

Releasing their self-titled mini album right away in December 2010 at their first Osaka oneman, the band became instantly active. In January, they took their sound to Tokyo for another solo act before following up the earlier limited release of FEST VAINQUEUR with a regular edition on March 23 in 2011. FEST VAINQUEUR still managed to put out their first single, BLAZE without delay on May 11 despite appearing in several charity lives as well as regular events after the March 2011 Earthquake in Eastern Japan.

Aside from their own activities as a newly formed band, FEST VAINQUEUR were involved in the founding of the visual kei charity movement, Blue Planet Japan, along with DaizyStripper and A(Ace) of the same label. On June 25, they performed in an event designed to debut the B.P.J Alliance’s brand new charity song, “Hitotsu dake We Are the One” which was recorded by a variety of prominent artists.

Style

The musicians each bring a bit of themselves to the sound while they compose their music as a group, with vocalist Hal acting as lyricist. FEST VAINQUEUR  is technically a new band, but the members have actually been around for a decent length of time, and have a good idea of what sells in visual kei. Their music is catchy and melodious, yet deliciously heavy. Meanwhile, they like to tinker with different genres of music, making for versatile releases. Vocalist Hal is well recognized as one of the better voices of the neo-visual kei movement, and his warm tones are well-displayed through melody and skillful key changes. Their colourful rock image, jazzed up by bright hair, is a great physical representation of the VK scene in Osaka.
