Logiq – Biography
Logiq was originally a five piece band that formed in the summer of 2007. On July 29, the band performed for the first time during an event hosted by their label, Kranze. Their mission was to give listeners the nostalgic feel of an era of visual artists seemingly forgotten, a style of music and fashion known as kotekote kei.
The first era of Logiq released the single entitled “Hajimari no Uta” on June 25, 2008. They went on to release three other singles before announcing their activity pause in 2009 when the band was reduced to vocalist AGEHA. Near the end of July in 2011, Logiq announced that there were three new members recruited: guitarist MAHIRO (ex-Kelli), bassist YAHIRO (ex-XodiacK), and drummer TAKESHI.
With their return, they mentioned that they would also release a brand new single in November 2011. However, the date was pushed back until 2012. It wasn’t until the January 4 that the band released the long-awaited single. The DVD single was entitled “Akai Ito” and hosted only the title track.
Style
Their new style has shifted somewhat from their original kotekote to an oriental theme. In a sense, Logiq have dedicated themselves to a style of visual kei that came before their time yet have adapted it in their own image. The style was well known for eccentric costumes and over the top hairstyles, now toned down to incorporate a sense of oriental beauty.
Logiq’s composition is full of smooth melodies, and is often accompanied with beautiful piano pieces as well. With AGEHA’s strong, lilting voice in the foreground, they have been compared to bands like Kagrra and SID in their earlier years. Their first release as a renewed band ties in gorgeous Chinese tones with modern instruments with lyrics that float in the mind long after the music has stopped.
