TRIGGAH is a five piece visual rock band with some familiar faces. In April of 2011, this Tokyo based band held their first live at Shinjuku Ruido K4.

ABYSS OF THE PSYCHE was TRIGGAH’s first single, which was released on the March 30 2011. The single came in limited quantity, and quickly sold out. Realizing the success of their first single, they promptly released a second press. In 2012, TRIGGAH announced the release of their 2nd and 3rd singles simultaneously on the 25th of January. The 2nd single, DAZZLE, featured one track, named after the single. The 3rd single, entitled Be Alive, featured two tracks; “Be Alive” and “HATE.”

Style

TRIGGAH’s visual style is very dark, and something you would usually see on a Nagoya based band. However, the look matches their sound. Their music thus far has been very heavy, having strong influences from metal. Furies of melodic guitar, pounding drums, growls, yells, and heartfelt wails. Track two of the Be Alive single, “HATE,” showcases the band’s excellent skill in blending the heaviness of guitar and drums with the melody of bass and vocals.

Vocalist hajime makes a major transition from the style of his previous band, THE GLADROW. A once long haired vocalist, he now sports a shorter, more masculine cut. While guitarist TOMOZO has had braids before, in red, they now fall sleek and black. He is well known for bouncing back and forth between feminine and masculine looks. Guitarist AIKA is an easy one to spot, keeping a similar look from his previous style in Cuartet, but some may miss his blonde hair and heavier makeup. It was very interesting watching Drummer YUSUKE transition into his style of today, even if it mimics his later years in AfterEffect. In contrast to the strong impression made by cuts and color, the band’s costuming is a bleaker affair, keeping it real in black on black.

Despite similarities to bands like DEATHGAZE and lynch., TRIGGAH have their own flair. Hajime’s unique voice, TAKE’s skilled bass play, AIKA and TOMOZO’s mastery at melodic guitar and YUSUKE’s powerful drums give this band what it takes to stand out amongst other newcomers and promise a future you definitely don’t want to miss out on!
