Taking some time out of their busy social schedule at V-ROCK FESTIVAL ’11, girugamesh sat down for a light chat and warned ROKKYUU about the crazy stupidity coming for 2012. They love their foreign music, they love their Terminator and they even love Golden Bomber. With odd hobbies and tastes popping up left right and center, one never knows what to expect next…

69: Please introduce the person next to you.
Яyo: Oh, we’re going to be introduced. Say something nice.
Satoshi: This is blond Яyo. He writes most of girugamesh’s music. He’s young but overflowing with talent. Our young thoroughbred.
Яyo: I like it. You pass. [Evil laugh] Okay, this is our vocalist Satoshi. He’s unreliable-
Satoshi: Hey!
Яyo: -but his voice is original and powerful. I think he’s a great vocalist.
[laughter]
Satoshi: You lie!
ShuU: This is girugamesh’s mascot character, Nii. He is very funny and raises our energy. He’s a crazily good guitarist.
Nii: This is our leader ShuU. He’s so dependable a party we would be lost without him. We have known each other since we were little, so I’ve always been counting on him.
 
69: Have you met any other bands today at V-ROCK?
Nii: We will after this!

69: Which bands would you like to visit?
Nii: I want to see Golden Bomber.
Яyo: Me too, Golden Bomber.

69: What’s the fascination with Golden Bomber?
All: Their performance!
Nii: When I watch them on Youtube, they really surpass expectations. I kind of want to go and say hello to them.
Яyo: Say, “We watch you all the time.”

69: Have you considered taking on some of their ideas?
Яyo: That would be…[laugh] But their way of surpassing expectations-
Nii: -and the flexibility of their performance is amazing.
Яyo: There’s a lot to learn from them.

69: Golden Bomber often do impressions of other bands. How would you feel if they copied girugamesh?
All: We’d be thrilled!
 
69: During the show today, you guys performed an AKB48 song as V-ROCK’s theme song. Do you like idols?
ShuU: It wasn’t so much about idols but that everyone knows the song. Everyone knows AKB and it was our V-ROCK debut, so we just decided to do it.

69: Whose idea was it?
Яyo & Nii: We all wanted to do ‘something’…
ShuU: So we all came up with this song that everyone knows.
 
69: Aside from girugamesh itself, what kind of music do you personally want to try?
ShuU: I want to perform with a mask on like slipknot. I think I could get away with anything like screaming and drooling.
Яyo: I want to write a song for female vocalist. The vocal range is different from a guy’s so I think I could write something interesting. Like Evanescence.
Satoshi: I want to perform with just one acoustic guitar!
All: Like Tsuyoshi Nagabuchi. [laugh]
Nii: I want to try acoustic, too. I don’t play piano, so I think it would be fun to try something with that sort of artist.
 
69: Halloween’s close. Do you have any plans?
ShuU: I want to go to a party.

69: A costume party? What costumes would you wear?
Nii: A pumpkin!
Satoshi: I’d be a zombie.
ShuU & Яyo: Undead!
ShuU: I think I’d like to try a princess.

69: Have you ever worn a dress?
ShuU: Never. [Laugh] I want to try it once.
 
69: Then Halloween is a good excuse.
Nii: Maybe next year.
ShuU: Prinshuu.
 
69: If you could switch, what instrument would you want to play?
Яyo: I want to play the guitar.
Satoshi: I want to be a dancer. Otaku style dance. [laugh]
ShuU: I can’t sing, so… Aside from bass, I think it would have to be drums.
Nii: I can’t even think of not playing guitar! Firstly, bass is the first instrument I picked up, but back then, I couldn’t hear any bass on CD, so I thought it was boring. If it doesn’t stand out, it’s no good. So after bass was drums. I like the sound of drums, but I’m not interested in that play-style myself and vocalists have to sing in front of other people which I don’t like. So, after all, “I like guitar.”
Яyo: Very cool.

69: How about dancing?
Nii: Dancing…
Яyo: You like dancing, don’t you?
Nii: I like dancing, but…
Satoshi: Will you dance with me?
Яyo: Akihabara style?
Nii: Shall we try something together?
Яyo: A dance group!
Satshi: Maybe we will.

69: We’re looking forward to it.
Nii: Ok!
 
69: If you could perform with any foreign bands, who would you choose?
Яyo: I want to play with Linkin Park or some new metal bands. I also like Limp Bizkit and Marilyn Manson, etc. Heavy bands.

69: How about Evanescence?
Яyo: Yeah! Amy… is cute.
Satoshi: I want perform with Avril Lavigne. Because she’s cute.
[Laughter]
Яyo: And that’s the only reason!
Nii: Lady Gaga! I want to feel that aura close up.
Яyo: Why don’t you try putting shrimp on your head like she did? [laugh]
Nii: Hey!

69: Please give 69 readers a message!
Яyo: To America… “I’ll be back.”
69: Do you like Terminator?
Яyo: I love it!

69: Da dadada…
Яyo: Da dada-If you say that, I’ll have to do this! [Яyo rhythmically bangs the table] When we were interviewed in America, it was like “I’ll be back!” [Bangs some more.]
ShuU: He’s really into it.
Satoshi: We just announced that we will do 13 days continuous in 2012. From next year, girugamesh will go really stupid and crazy so please look forward to it.
Nii: We’ll keep up the cool music and fun lives, so please keep supporting us.
ShuU: We’re consulting with everyone about another world tour in 2012. We really want to do it, it’s just a problem with funds. I’m just kidding. We will definitely do it if everything goes smoothly, so please wait for us.
