Mad Tea Party Vol.25 at Yokohama BLITZ

Live Report

by Diana Tome, , posted June 6, 2012

Despite the warming sun and the call of the cherry blossoms in full bloom, a crowd clad in black gathered at Yokohama BLITZ for D’s Mad Tea Party. The dark walls and dim lights kept the sun at bay and the vampires and children of the night safe during a show filled with theatrical staging, feisty guitar riffs, scalding bass and thunderous drums.  For their last show in Japan before adventuring to Europe and South America for a world tour, D gathered fans and friends for the twenty fifth edition of their regular event, Mad Tea Party. Contrary to what the event’s title would suggest, there was neither tea nor doily-spread tables, yet the party was “mad” indeed, especially considering the iconic gothic-inspired bands performing. Seven bands took the stage and ROKKYUU paid special attention to those of the majority style, the elaborate Gothic and Lolita to be found in Kaya, Matenrou Opera, Versailles, and the event’s hosts, D.
