The Anime and Video Game Convention (AVCon) in Adelaide, Australia has added two new categories to its annual Fashion Parade and Competition: the Elegant Gothic Aristocrat (EGA) and Kimono fashion. Aside from these competitions, the convention will also host its regular Lolita panel and the fashion parade, very appropriately titled “Kimono Katwalk.”

AVCon is moving to a bigger and better location this year-the Adelaide Convention Center– thanks to Channel Ten Adelaide (one of the major Australian TV networks), which signed up as the convention’s primary sponsor. We can expect a convention full of competitions, cosplay, quizzes, screenings, karaoke, video games, and more. AVCon promises a fun time for anyone into transplanted Japanese  culture, a trend that will hopefully catch on throughout Australia.

Launching on Friday July 24, the convention will last through until Sunday July 26 with tickets available at a pre-registration price of $35 for the weekend.
