Bassist Yuuto has been around since SCREW started performing in 2006 but due to musical differences and the desire to go down his own path, the bassist has resolved to leave the band on December 31, 2009, according to a statement issued from the band’s official website:

To all SCREW’s supporting fans,

Thank you for always supporting SCREW. The band has an important announcement to share with you.

Yuuto, who has been SCREW’s bassist since the beginning, will be withdrawing from the band on December 31 2009.

Despite countless repetitive discussions, we wish to deeply apologize to all our fans that it came to such a conclusion.

However, we believe you will come to understand, as all five members agree, that this is a positive decision allowing both parties to continue forward step by step. There will be no looking back.

Despite the fact that there is only a matter of time left, we hope that you will continue to support SCREW as a five member band until the very end.

Each member posted similar statements linked below the joint announcement. They’ve made certain that this development won’t be swept under the rug.

See Yuuto (while you still can) in SCREWS’s oneman tour, which starts October 1. tour will hit nine venues across the country until the final on November 2, with a repeat performance at Shibuya’s Club Quattro. You’ll also spot Yuuto in the prestigious V-Rock Festival on October 17 at Chiba’s Makuhari Messe, as well as an appearance at Tsukicon in Finland on October 17, where SCREW is confirmed to be a musical guest.

SCREW will participate in the December 28 and 29 Nagoya and Osaka events entitled THE UNITED KILLERS, along with several other heavy VK bands. Whether or not we’ll see the band on New Years Eve is currently unknown, so make sure you don’t miss THE UNITED KILLERS in Osaka, as that may be Yuuto’s last live as a member of SCREW.

What’s in store for Yuuto and Screw after the split in December remains a mystery, but SCREW do not seem to have planned any sort of hiatus, so at the very least, fans can rest assured that the band will continue activity with or without a new bassist.
