V-ROCK FESTIVAL 09 will host what they say will be “the world’s largest visual-kei festival ever”—over fifty Japanese and foreign visual-kei bands on October 24 (Saturday) and 25 (Sunday) at the Makuhari Messe International Convention Complex (located in Chiba). Of the twenty-three bands  already confirmed, there is an array of newer and older visual-kei names as well as foreign headliners such as Marilyn Manson.

Chiba Makuhari Messe is said to be one of Japan’s most well-known convention centers. Spanning over 210,000 square meters, the center features many large event halls, and is also home to the annual Tokyo Game Show. The festival will take place in International Exhibition Halls 9 – 11, a series of two-floor halls which feature one 9,000 square-meter hall and two smaller halls measuring 4,500 square metres. For those of you who can bear to tear yourselves away from the music long enough to eat, there is also a cafeteria to cater to the hunger pangs between sets.

Because the V-ROCK FESTIVAL plans to host a variety of bands, from major to indies and a mixing of genres, from hardcore to oshare and Japanese to Western, this festival promises something for visual-kei fans outside of Japan.

Each band will only play one day, and a single ticket costs 12,000 yen (the two-day ticket discount price is 20,000 yen). We foreigners can also book tickets as part of a tour package, which allows non-native fans an equal opportunity to get in to the event as the locals. The plan is for domestic bus tour tickets to go on sale on July 8, with the tour package for overseas visitors going on sale July 19. General sale of festival tickets beginning on Saturday, September 5.

Currently, the event’s website is still partially under construction, but below are the details:
