According to a newsletter circulated by the visual kei music store Brand X, the Under Code Production band Chariots will be releasing a series of consecutive singles over a period of three months, beginning in October. So what sets Chariots apart from every other band with a consecutive release in the works? Two words: Concept single.

What exactly is a concept single? Currently, that’s a mystery that only Chariots and their marketing team are capable of answering.

BAND CONCEPT/「Aggressive art」

That’s how Chariots classify themselves on their official homepage. Sound strange? Well, this isn’t exactly a new strategy for the band. From music to costumes, the band’s style seems to fit in very well with the “Aggressive Art” theme.  The first release will be made on October 7 and has been titled 「光」, the Japanese character for “Light”. The following singles include “Ash” 「灰」on November 4, and “Darkness” 「闇」, December 9. Each single costs 1,575 yen.

Given the modicum of information about the singles, we have yet to see whether these releases will yield exciting new music or disappointing clichés. For the time being, however, we can only wait and see.
