Grotesque and whimsical are two words that don’t often go together, but they sum up the 126-page collection of comic madness that is the HANGRY&ANGRY Hell Book. The book features an extensive guide to Gashicon’s collection of unusual  characters, such as CANDY&PURIN, a rabbit character with split personalities, and the dark Family of Grim.

Hell Book compiles short comics from the past seven years and even adds longer stories and photos of Hitomi Yoshizawa and Rika Ishikawa; HANGRY&ANGRY Future; and full, double page illustrations of the HANGRY&ANGRY costume collections. Sixh. fans may enjoy seeing HANGRY&ANGRY Legend featuring MINgry, IBIgry, and NARIgry, warriors from a distant planet who battle monsters spawned from sexy boobs and butts.

While the humor is strictly lowbrow, the book is a high-quality print and can be purchased with a limited edition book cover. Best of all, for readers overseas, Hell Book is being released in both English and Japanese versions so everyone can enjoy Gashicon’s eccentric world.

The English version looks something like this. Ooh, shiny.

And here’s its loudly colored Japanese counterpart.

Kate Havas first became interested in Japanese fashion in college when visual kei and anime were just beginning to make their way to America. Kate signed onto ROKKYUU in order to bring up-to-date news on Japanese fashion trends and the personalities behind these various subculture brands to fans all over the world.

Leela McMullen is a strong believer in the philosophy "no music, no life."
