The livehouse, Ikebukuro Chop, is a teeny tiny hole in the ground with a fantastic atmosphere. Live-goers can’t help but feel a sense of community with their fellow fans. Somehow, that sensation was only increased by the video projection of a traditional Japanese Enka performance onto the stage curtain. There to see a rock concert, fans watched on, fascinated by the very opposite, chatting softly and giggling until the lights dropped.

SCREW to Lose Bassist Yuuto

Bassist Yuuto has been around since SCREW started performing in 2006 but due to musical differences and the desire to go down his own path, the bassist has resolved to leave the band on December 31, 2009, according to a statement issued from the band's official website.

Matenrou Opera First Live DVD; C.C. Lemon Hall Confirmed

Matenrou Opera have already given us something fresh to look forward to for the latter half of 2009: their first live DVD, Dawn of Anomie in Akasaka Blitz. Filmed on July 23, 2009, the DVD will feature 17 songs out of the full two-hour set list. This release on November 25 will spell the end of the Anomie Project with a bang.

girugamesh to Release New Album Amidst a Flurry of Activity!

Girugämesh's next untitled album is due for release in three versions on December 16, 2009. The CD-only version costs 3,150, but for 3,990 yen you'll get an additional DVD containing a "new video clip" and some backstage footage. For 5,000 yen, however, the "Super Limited Version" will include a DVD containing over 100 minutes of footage.

Sel’m Oneman Tour and Two Singles on the Way

Sel'm have been pretty active in 2009—their third release of the year is coming up September 30. The maxi single VOICE features three songs, including the title track, and is priced at 1,575 yen. The band have another release scheduled for 2009, which will tie in with their November Osaka-Nagoya-Tokyo oneman tour entitled 繁殖 (Hanshoku, or Breed). This new single, CROSS COUNTER, will be available only at concerts throughout the tour.
