Steampunk is a subculture still relatively unknown in Japan, but musician and artist Kenny Creation is looking to change that. Having recently formed the Tokyo Steampunk Society, he organized the group’s inaugural event “Steam Garden” at Shibuya’s Trump Room on April 13.

The fashion show was an amazing show of British girls and guys doing Japanese style, but off the catwalk there was some incredible outfits too on attendees simply wandering around and Rokkyuu were there to capture it.

Hyper Japan is a three day extravaganza of Japanese culture that takes place London twice a year, in Spring and Summer. Rather than the norm of solely focussing on anime or Akihabara culture, Hyper Japan has a wider scope, with events, panels and shops showing aspects of Japan from the technological to the culinary.

Hyper Japan is a three-day event that showcases the very best and brightest of Japanese culture from the modern to the traditional. Everywhere you looked, there was something fascinating to see, from martial arts demonstrations to panels and fashion shows on stage, and for the culinary senses a feast of festival food. In the midst the attendees and performers themselves were dazzling, showing off an array of street fashions that modern Japan is known for.
